In your rough draft, find the sentence(s) you think is the BEST, and post it on the blog. Before deciding on a sentence, remember what we’ve learned about good sentences:

  • They begin with a capital letter and end with some kind of punctuation.

  • They use imagery and sensory details.

  • They express a complete thought.

**To minimize spelling mistakes, you might want to type your response first in a Word document, spell check it, and then cut and paste into the blog comment box.

Last week, we spent time learning about imagery and mood. We also spent some time discussing how we’ll be prewriting to help plan our essay. In 3-7 sentences, please tell me your thoughts on why imagery will be important to the mood of your essay AND why it is important that we plan our essay before we write it.

Welcome to our blog!

My Darling students,

I am so excited about this BLOG.  I know, it may not be the most exciting blog out there, but I promise, as I learn more about this, I will try and make it better.

Hopefully, this will answer some of your questions. We’re going to try to blog once a week. The grade will count as a 20% grade, so it’s important participate to the best of your ability. If you are absent, you will have to make up the blogging time on your own…just one more advantage to being here, at school, everyday.

Your blogging tasks will range from editing and revising activities, to sharing bits of your own writings, to responding to literature, or analyzing characters and other literary elements we’ve studied (and will be studying as the year goes on).

Other expectations:

-No texting; spell out your words!

-Start sentences with CAPITAL letters, and end sentences with punctuation marks like . ? !

-Capitalize “I” when you’re talking about yourself

-Take this seriously. If you post something silly or something that shows no effort, I will NOT post it, and YOU will NOT get a grade.

I’m truly excited about this opportunity and am expecting all of you to do great things with this. Let’s blog! :)
